Happy Valley was first published in 2012 in time for the 2013 academic year, 12 years ago.

In that time it has been a long-time best-seller on sale in 70 countries and voted by children in Japan as more popular than Thomas and Friends!

Happy Valley has helped hundreds of thousands of very young learners learn English.

We’re so proud of Happy Valley and incredibly grateful to all of our users all over the world across all these years.

In this series of short newsletters over the next 12 weeks, we would like to remind you why we think Happy Valley is great, and why so many of you seem to agree.

Following are comments and quotes from teachers who use Happy Valley, and the reasoning that went into what they noticed.

“Kids pick it up right away!”

Let’s start at the beginning. Hello!

Our first learners are three years old, perhaps two. They can barely speak Japanese. Some books and songs overload very young learners with language in one song.

“Hello, nice to me you, my name is Andy. What’s your name?”
“Hello, how are you. I’m fine thanks you, and you?

What an exhausting way to start!

“My son sees the school sign and starts singing!” Mother of two-year old in the very first Happy Valley test class.

この間、「ハッピーバレー」は70か国で販売され、長年のベストセラーとして支持されてきました。さらに、日本の子どもたちから「きかんしゃトーマス」よりも人気だと評価されたこともあります！

「ハッピーバレー」は、非常に多くの幼児に英語を学ぶ楽しさを届けてきました。

「子どもたちはすぐに覚えてしまいます！」

それでは、最初から始めましょう。「こんにちは！」です。

私たちの最初の学習者は、3歳、時には2歳の子どもたちです。彼らはまだ日本語さえほとんど話せません。一部の教材や歌は、1曲の中で幼児にとっては過剰な量の言語を詰め込んでしまいます。

例えば、
「Hello, nice to meet you, my name is Andy. What’s your name?」
「Hello, how are you. I’m fine thank you, and you?」

これでは、子どもたちにとって負担が大きすぎます。

「息子は学校の看板を見ると歌い始めます！」
