スチューデントブック3ユニット4のこのチャントは、fly（飛ぶ）を含む良く使う動詞を紹介しています。ストーリータイムの後にチャントをして、もう一回ジェスチャーを加えてチャントをしましょう。子供は「できる」ことを見せるのが大好きです。タレントショーを行うチャンスです。すべての生徒が立ち上がる機会を得ることが出来ますよ。皆で「Can you run?」とききます。立っている生徒が「Yes」または「Yes, I can」と答え、できることを見せます。フラッシュカードを使ってアクションの順番をランダムにしたり、順番に並べたりして、子供たちが次に質問したいものを決めることが出来ますよ。「Can you fly?」ときかれると子供たちは皆大笑いしますが、たまに「Yes, In a Plane! 飛行機で」と答える生徒がいます。

This chant from Happy Valley Student Book 3, Unit 4, introduces common verbs, including fly. After Storytime, do this chant and then do it again with gestures. Kids love to show what they can do. Make this a chance to have a talent show. All students can get a chance to stand up. As a group, everyone ask Can you run? The student can respond Yes or Yes, I can as they demonstrate what they can do. Use flashcards to make the action order random, go in order or just let kids decide themselves what they want to ask next. When asked Can you fly? everyone can get a good laugh, though I’ve had a few kids say Yes! In a plane!

Kids love to show what they can do, but this is also an opportunity to pretend to be other animals. Use the animals from Happy Valley 1 Unit 10 chant and pretend you and your child are, for example, giraffes. Ask, Can you swim? Answer as a giraffe. If you don’t know, search the net and find out. This is a great opportunity to learn about what animals can and can’t do, too.
