This song from Happy Valley Phonics Book 1, Unit 7, introduces some vocabulary that begin with the r, s and t sounds. Use gestures for the words and do them as you sing along. Put the flashcards on the ground and ask students What does Rabby want? Have them say or touch the words that starts with the same sounds. As they improve, put the letters r, s, t on the ground and say a word. Students should touch the beginning letter. Let students be teacher and say the words for their classmates to say. See if they know other words that start with those sounds. Bring in some other objects that start with the same sounds; if students know the words, see if they can match them to one of the sounds. If they don’t know what something is, have them ask What is it? or What are they? After you provide the answer, see if they can match it to one of the sounds. As student now have done most of the sounds, see if you can use the letter cards and slowly make simply three letter words like c-a-t. Use gestures for the sounds, slowly blending them. This is just an early introduction to the idea of blending, so there is no pressure for them to read. Just have fun combining sounds.

フォニックスブック1、ユニット7のこの歌は r, s, t の音で始まるボキャブラリーを紹介します。ジェスチャーをしながら一緒に歌いましょう。フラッシュカードを床において「What does Rabby want?」とききます。生徒がキャラクターの名前と同じ文字で始まる言葉を言う、もしくはそのカードにタッチします。上達してきたら、r, s, t の文字が書かれたカードを床において単語を言います。生徒がその単語の頭文字にタッチします。次は生徒に先生役をしてもらい、他の生徒に単語を言ってもらいましょう。他にこの文字ではじまる単語を知っているでしょうか？この文字ではじまる物を用意して知っているかきいてみます。知っていたら、音とマッチさせましょう。知らない場合は「What is it?」や「What are they?」と質問させましょう。答えを教えた後は音とマッチさせます。すでにかなりの音を覚えているはずですので、カードを使って簡単な三文字の単語を作ってみましょう。ジェスチャーを使ってゆっくりブレンディングします。このタイミングでブレンディングを紹介しますので、すぐに読むことが出来るとは期待していません。音のコンビネーションで遊ぶだけです。
