This chant from Happy Valley Student Book 2, Unit 4, introduces more foods (in Happy Valley 1 we learned some fruit and snack food vocabulary). Do the chant and then repeat it doing the gestures. After, make a menu like in the Storytime page! On the paper draw rectangles as big as the student cards. Then hand out the student cards. Ask for different vocabulary and have students place them on the paper (wherever is fine, it doesn’t have to be just like on the page). When students are ready, they can then pretend to be the customer ordering from the menu. Use the dialogue I’m hungry/thirsty. What do you want? I want …, please. Give them what they asked for, saying Here you are. Thank you. As students become confident, try stepping back and letting students do it together.

スチューデントブック２、ユニット４のこのチャントは新しい食べ物の単語を紹介します（ハッピーバレー１でもフルーツとおやつの単語を学びました）。チャントをやってからもう一度ジェスチャーをまじえてチャントします。その後はストーリータイムのページと同じようにメニューを作ります！紙にスチューデントカードと同じ大きさ四角を描きます。そしてスチューデントカードを配ります。生徒にボキャブラリーをたずねて、答えたら紙にそのカードをおきます（どんな風に置いても大丈夫。スチューデントブックと全く同じ様にする必要はありません）。準備ができたら、メニューから注文するふりをします。「I’m hungry/thirsty」「What do you want?」「I want…, please」のダイアログを使います。注文されたものを「Here you are」「Thank you」と言って渡します。自信がついてきたら、生徒同士でやりましょう。

During meals, ask your child what they want in English and encourage them to answer in English.
